Openers

#1) The renegade figure dashed across the barren land, hoping the starry night sky would provide him enough cover from being detected from his would-be captors.

#2) Light filtered through the kitchen window. The egg timer rang. As if on cue, the kettle on the lighted stove let out a stream of hot steam from its spout. The kettle seemed to be waiting for someone, anyone to tend it it. None came.

#3) Mary walked into the kitchen and rummaged through the cupboards for her jar of cookies. She found it, plunged her hand into the jar and felt its insides; but what was at the bottom of the jar is definitely not a chocolate chip cookie..

#4) Silence. That was all Caryn could hear. Darkness. That was all Caryn could see.

#5) It was a surreal dream, or so it seemed to Gerald. For a moment, he couldn’t discern whether he had woken up or still in deep slumber. He didn’t need to wonder any further.

#6) Lightning bolts lit up the dark sky. Almost instantaneously, the clouds unleashed torrential rain upon the Earth. Time and again, the rain hit Jeremy’s face, as if mocking his loss.

#7) The fire was finally reduced to a mere ember. Amidst the charred carnage, Constantine stood tall. With conviction ringing in his voice, he said “I now know what must be done,”.

#8) “Could this be finally the turning point for me?” Michael said to himself.

#9) A family divided. That was all Jean could think of. Why her? Why does it have to happen to her family?

#10) It happened so fast. There was a struggle. Two voices shouted at each other. A third voice crying in protest. And then, a gunshot echoed through the trees. All was silent.

#11) Revenge was all he could think off. He knew this newfound controllable rage and thirst for revenge would cloud his judgement. He didn’t care.

#12) Blood was everywhere. The crime scene was one of grisly murder. It seemed that the investigators may have finally met their match

  1. There’s quite a bit of variety in your Openers although some were a little cliché, I felt.
